Hello Haavard, the item in the Wiki's TaskList was submitted by myself, because I also started to write some code for photorealistic scenery some weeks ago. The basic projection (texture --> sphere) was quite easy to do; loading a huge texture (like Reflex's 8160 pixel images) also shouldn't be too hard. But I wanted to do this using PLIB which already provides loaders for many image formats. This resulted in a long discussion on the PLIB-devel list how the texture loaders could be moved to their own library component, making them usable for more than just texture loading. I think we've kind of agreed on a design, so I'll start coding this part ASAP. Bottom line: it would take several weeks until I could work on the scenery stuff again, so if you want to jump in at this point I'll gladly throw away the few lines of code from my demo and let you do the work... =20 > I saw from the web-pages that there was a wish to make crrcsim=20 > compatible with Reflex. > I don't have Reflex, but I have downloaded scenes from=20 > http://www.rc-sim.de/index_en.htm. I also don't have Reflex but found some information on its panorama image format on the web. It uses 360=B0x135=B0 panoramas with pixel resolutions up to 8120x3060. And yes, rc-sim.de is a good resource for such images. I guess it would be a good idea to support at least the same image format as one of the big commercial sims, just to make things easier if you want to convert sceneries. The scenery description itself should be close to the existing CRRCsim scenery format. > To me it seems like the scenery not include "the floor close to me". My=20 > question is then : What does the > ie. grass close to the pilot look like ? I guess the camera angle is simply limited, so the bottom of the viewing frustum can only be tilted 45=B0 down. There's some more stuff to think about when talking about the panorama scenery stuff: - collision detection (would be useful for the existing scenery too...) - a special "tool mode" to determine the coordinates of objects in panorama sceneries, to help setting up the collision boxes (see the Clearview simulator docs for an example: http://clearviewrc.com/cvdocs/SceneriesDoc.htm#_Toc148456978 ) - windfield definition - ...
