One thought that just occured to me, which would allow vacation autoresponses to be controlled from any IMAP client, like Thunderbird, would involve just a simple server-side mail delivery script, and nothing more. A user would create a folder named "Vacation", and just put a draft message into it. The system's default mail delivery script needs to simply check if the "Vacation" folder exists, and has a non-deleted message, and use it to send an autoresponse. I like this idea. I'll think about adding such an option to mailbot, where it probably belongs. There are some problems that need to be solved; mailbot expects the autoresponse message to be formatted in a very specific way. Any random draft message from a mail client probably won't do. |
