How do you connect to your ADSL device? Is it external? And if so, is it connected via USB, Wireless or Ethernet? I'm assuming here that it isn't internal (in my experience I've seen very few of those). I'll take a stab here and say that when you create the bridge Windows in its wisdom is perhaps making that the default connection. When you destroy the bridge Windows restores everything to its previous state (and it starts working again). Further guessing I'd say you're using ethernet to connect to your device. I can't guess if its a secondary network card or you've only got one installed. The other question is if your modem and colinux system are on the same subnet (since you're attempting to bridge them I'd guess that they should be, unless you've got another secondary Linux box to do the routing or you're doing some insane routing using colinux as a firewall, which wouldn't be the first time). I'm guessing that potentially Windows is confusing itself and putting you and your modem on different subnets and it being unable to then communicate. Just remember that when you create a bridge it will do strange things to your network settings. I used one on my old work machine to connect it to the corporate network. It worked and acted like any other machine on the network. It was just a single ethernet network card. The only thing I could note is that both machines had static IP's (colinux and host) as opposed to dynamic. Personally my LAN is configured with an ADSL modem hooked up via ethernet on the same subnet. Bridging works for me, I just assign a new IP and it works.
