Not bad! I recently got a Sony VAIO laptop passed down to me at work, and it's got a gig of ram and after I installed FC5 on part of it, I tried Xen. Well, it didn't work *immediately* so I cleaned some viruses the XP partition, installed cygwin and colinux and after reading the wiki for a bit, I gave up on that confusing xml file and wrote a shell script to start up two debian instances. This took me about 2 hours. Ever since I started playin= g with User Mode Linux, I've been keeping up on this stuff--I loved seeing the ADIOS CD that could start up 4 UML instances--I did a demo of that a= t LinuxFest Northwest last year--but I must say, running two copies of (albiet) stripped down debian on this xp box with 128M ram each has no great impact on this system. I'm really impressed. I'm going to be doing = a presentation on setting up replication on mysql at LinuxFest later this month, and because FC5 can't deal with having an external monitor on this laptop--coLinux will save the day and allow me to do the presentation! So -- I gotta paste in this wee shell script because someone here might like to see it. It's crude--doesn't collect the stdout/stderr from dmesg, but heck.... I'm so impressed with coLinux! In Task Manager, my two colinux daemon instances (tho idle) report just under 5M ram use each. the fltk consoles use 2M, the cygwin rxvt I starte= d them from reports >1M. ok--that script: attached.
