Hello, I saw that you guys had some left over clean-up code for an old PCAP install attempt (from previous installers). I'm about to publish a better (not beta ;-) version of my installer, that allows users to select either PCAP or TAP, but without requiring an external installer for either (its all self-contained). For some lame reason the PCAP guys won't release installer details, but they're goofy installer leaves a complete audit/log trail in the "WinPCAP" install dir in "install.log" (talk about information leakage). I used that log, plus one error message from the coLinux net-bridge driver, to produce the NSIS install chunks attached. They will seamlessly install PCAP in WinXP, and run without a reboot. My only warning on this code, is that it doesn't check for any other PCAP install .. if you really want to check for it, they add regents to; HKHM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall/WinPcapInst Enjoy. -- Ian Latter Internet and Networking Security Officer Macquarie University |
