To get the TAP device on the rest of the network, you will have to bridge the physical ethernet card with the virtual - but I don't think that this is available in XP Home Edition (but it is most certainly available in XP Pro). What you are trying to do _is_ possible (my colinux system acts like its a normal machine on my network, even has DNS and all that jazz set up for it so I just type 'colinux' to refer to my coLinux system on my other three PCs.
