ChessX snapshot r1939 has a FICS Console and settings to define credentials, but no (obvious) mean to connect to FICS server: no menu entry and no button. According to code in MainWindow::openDatabaseUrl it would connect when opening a database with name "FICS", but it is not possible to open it from GUI because Qt/chessx extends name "FICS" by an extension ".pgn" and a path "~/Documents/chessdata".

OS: Linux, Fedora 21
Qt version: 4.8.6

(No issues with compiling r1939 on Linux with Qt 4.8.6)

In ChessX, the world is a database. Thus FICS is represented by a virtual database and can be opened from the Database List. See the manual also on this topic.
