Clint: I have implemented the /manual/ subtraction for LT-delay exactly for the reasons Chris mentioned above. If I consider the level and interests of the average Forum member as representative, I conclude that most just like to browse through space without looking much to LT-delays and the like. Notably with the introduction of the /multiview/ feature, you sure have noticed that it can become quite CPU-intensive with several views active. So there does not seem to be much room for vasting CPU power! But clearly the automatic incorporation of LT-delay is rather trivial once time is moved to the Observer class, we may introduce an option in the GUI for continuous implementation of LT-delay for an appropriate subset of selections. Since you are not using the /most convenient/ KDE interface, you will also not have noticed the handy implementation of the LT-delay subtraction in the time setting dialog along the lines I proposed some time ago. The idea being that observing time-critical events always will involve setting the time somehow through this dialog. So no extra effort to hit the LT-subtract button if desired. Also it is instructive to /see/ explicitly how long the light actually travels...Have a click: http://www.shatters.net/~t00fri/images/ltdelay-kde.jpg Bye Fridger |
