Andrew, I think it's reasonable to remove the colored lighting, at least until we have some better modeling of the color. One thing to consider: when a planet is lit by multiple stars of different spectral types, some difference in color of the light should be perceptible. This is a difficult to bake in to textures used in an add-on.
