Only semantic provides the details needed for editing conveniences, or non-name based searching. There is currently no canned support for etags. If it were written, it would be useful when pointing CEDET at a new batch of source-code for the first time, but after a while, CEDET would have parsed everything and the TAGS file would be ignored.
