Hi Ag, We don't have access to SuSE 9.2 Linux. From the e-mail below, it appears that you may need to go back and make sure that all the development libraries were installed. Also, you may need to go back to an earlier version of the gcc library. I was told by some folks that SuSE doesn't supply the f77 compiler within its distribution. You have to install it yourself. Please take a look at your environment and let us know if you are still having problems (or not). I would like to include your findings in the CDAT software-portal. Best regards, Dean >Hi folks, > >I've just tried installing CDAT on SUSE9.2 and I got the following error >in CDMS: > >copying Lib/internattr.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/grid.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/dataset.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/slabinterface.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/convention.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/gengrid.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/fvariable.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/__init__.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/bindex.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/cdurlparse.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/variable.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/coord.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/cache.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >copying Lib/cdmsNode.py -> build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms >running build_ext >building 'cdms.Cdunif' extension >creating build/temp.linux-x86_64-2.4 >creating build/temp.linux-x86_64-2.4/Src >gcc -pthread -fno-strict-aliasing -DNDEBUG -O -fPIC -IInclude >-I/home/users/dmckay/cdat/include/cdms -I/home/ >users/dmckay/cdat/include -I/home/users/dmckay/cdat/include/python2.4 -c >Src/Cdunifmodule.c -o build/temp.lin >ux-x86_64-2.4/Src/Cdunifmodule.o >gcc -pthread -shared build/temp.linux-x86_64-2.4/Src/Cdunifmodule.o >-L/home/users/dmckay/cdat/lib -lcdms -lne >tcdf -o build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.4/cdms/Cdunif.so >/usr/lib64/gcc-lib/x86_64-suse-linux/3.3.4/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux >/bin/ld: /home/users/dmckay/cdat/lib/ >libcdms.a(cdunif.o): relocation R_X86_64_32S against `a local symbol' >can not be used when making a shared ob >ject; recompile with -fPIC >/home/users/dmckay/cdat/lib/libcdms.a: could not read symbols: Bad value >collect2: ld returned 1 exit status >error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 > >Any pointers or experience I could use at this stage? > >Thanks, > >Ag > > |
