First, thanks a lot for this very nice, small and handy tool. I'm using it a lot every day for job.
In order to get better result, I've choosen to capture using Microsoft Vidéo 1 compressor at 4 frames / sec frame rate. This allow to send it with the small player to everyone w/o requesting specific codec, ...
Compressing result file using 7zip in 7z mode gives incredible results (sometime about 1% of original file).
However, the small player doesn't accept the file association management of Windows. In other word, you can't open an avi file with it directly. You have to run player then open your file.
Could it be possible to get this ?

If I understand you correctly, you would like to associate .avi files with the CamStudio player. This is a good idea. I want to be sure I understand you correctly. Is there a reason why you wish to use the CamStudio player as opposed to, say, the Windows Media player or another video player?
It may be possible to create a .reg file as a short-term solution. In the meantime, check out these two links to help you out:
