CAMV is the validation engine. The CAM Editor builds the validation template and you can base that on an XSD schema. However - not tried with validating DITA content.
I believe what you may be looking for is a simple XML editor in which to enter DITA - you could use the XML editor inside the CAM editor - see menu option XML and then New XML file - allows you to add children and content accordingly - but there is no "coaching" - you have to know what you want to edit and what valid DITA looks like.
And obviously there are products that provide rendering and content hinting support for DITA. Not aware of an open source option at this point however.
