Category: Geometry Editing >Group: Minor Effort >Status: Closed >Resolution: Accepted Priority: 4 Private: No Submitted By: Karel Kulhavy (clock3) >Assigned to: R. Weiss (r_weiss) Summary: suggestion for "sca" command Initial Comment: I suggest that sca command could also take 3 arguments, by which user could specify different scaling factors for different axes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Sean Morrison (brlcad) Date: 2010-01-29 23:51 Message: Your request is now implemented as of release 7.16.4 and should be available for testing. Please let us know if you run into any problems with this new feature (open a bug report if you find something wrong). We didn't do anything about pipes or torii, so the modeler does have to be aware of what they're scaling. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sean Morrison (brlcad) Date: 2010-01-29 23:51 Message: This feature request is now implemented and should be available with the next release, thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dwayne (dwaynelk) Date: 2005-06-21 21:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1209946 The pipe primitive, which uses the torus, would also cause trouble. When doing object edits (aka matrix edits) there are four options that allow you to specify which deminsion you are scaling - Scale X Scale Y Scale Z Scale X Y Z That fourth option (Scale X Y Z) could be modified (I suppose) to allow for one global X Y and Z scaler or three distinct scalers for each deminsion as the user requested. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sean Morrison (brlcad) Date: 2005-06-15 19:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=785737 This item was moved from the bug tracker to the feature request tracker. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sean Morrison (brlcad) Date: 2005-06-15 19:22 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=785737 In general, I don't see a problem with doing this -- though there is at least one primitive (and possibly others) that does not support such a non-rigid transformation. The torus, for example, presently only supports rigid transformations (no shearing/skewing or stretching, for example) so the commmand would have to take such an effect into account. The problem is further complicated for any geometry that includes or uses said primitives. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=640805&aid=1206440&group_id=105292 |
