The patch goes in the right direction, but is still (as was noted) incomplete and needs some more work. Other issues include style and whitespace formatting. Per discussion, may want to check out nmg_junk.c for an (old) example that does something very similar when reading polygons from a file. Not the best approach as there are undoubtedly better nmg routines that should be used for constructing a valid nmg from a bot.
