Paul, I am working on uploading a MediaWiki version of the MGED Help command pages. Currently I am finished with A-L and part way through M. Maybe it could help a bit: http://brlcad.org/wiki/Main_Page Also, in lieu of the 'make' command, why don't you try the 'in' command and MGED will walk you through the creation: mged> in Enter name of solid: myTGC Enter solid type: tgc Enter X, Y, Z of vertex: 0 0 0 Enter X, Y, Z of height (H) vector: 100 0 0 Enter X, Y, Z of vector A: 0 0 100 Enter X, Y, Z of vector B: 0 100 0 Enter scalar c: 10 Enter scalar d: 10 Now, if you use the 'up' arrow, it will show you the resultant command: mged> in myTGC tgc 0 0 0 100 0 0 0 0 100 0 100 0 10 10 Now, I do agree that the number sequences for the individual primitive types *should* be documented and I will definetly add that to my "TODO" list. Subject: [brlcad-users] explanations for the numbers in make shape.s commands Hi, I'm using the BRLCAD_VolumeII.pdf to study again the BRL-CAD. It's splendid tutorial, but I'm wondering why isn't there an explanation for the numbers in the 'make shape.s' commands, like this bellow, that I added for my Wiki on my Debian system: *** Right Elliptical Cylinder (rec) A,B,V,C,D -Vertex, V (a mértani test középpontja) -Height vector, H -Major axis for the ellipse -Minor axis for the ellipse Stored as a tgc, where vectors A and C have equal lengths, B and D have equal lengths, and all vectors are perpendicular to H. the button: mged> in btn.s rec 8 30 36 0 3 0 4 0 0 0 0 2 What is the meaning of these 12 number? *************************************** **** the (x y z) coordinates of the Vertex (8 30 36) **** the (x y z) coordinates of the hights end point (0, 3, 0) **** the (x y z) coordinates of the A vectors end point (4 0 0) **** the (x y z) coordinates of the B vectors end point (0 0 2) mged> l btn.s btn.s: truncated general cone (TGC) V (8, 30, 36) Top (8, 33, 36) H (0, 3, 0) mag=3 H direction cosines=(90, 0, 90) H rotation angle=90, fallback angle=0 A (4, 0, 0) mag=4 B (0, 0, 2) mag=2 C (4, 0, 0) mag=4 D (0, 0, 2) mag=2 AxB direction cosines=(90, 180, 90) AxB rotation angle=270, fallback angle=0 Where to find these explanations? Maybe one must to accomplish oneself these informations?
