Bugs item #1009461, was opened at 2004-08-15 11:36 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=499997&aid=1009461&group_id=62265 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Jari Aalto (jaalto) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Feature req: Classify as "daemon" message Initial Comment: Feature request: Add classification "Daemon" I'd like to propose one more category to the Bogofilter's detection. This is based on assumption, that the statistical analysys can determine the type of mail according to the content of the mail trained. If this is incorrect, please ignore this request. There is one type of mail that is also increasing, not just the amount of spam, but the amount of "alerts" or other programs that send automatic messages. These include: - Virus scanner programs - Worm scanner programs - Illegal content detection programs (file extentions..) - MDA errors (mail returned to user, that did not send them / due to spam forged headers) Unfortunately there are many, many virus programs that think it is good idea to "notify" user with email that the mail contained a virus, worm, illegal content ... but that is only increasing the load of unnecessary mail. This combined to the other forged headers and "mailbox full" messages that are directly related to it, the MDA's itself increase the load of unnecessary email against their intention. From this long introduction, I liked to draw attention that there migh be a good need to classify one type of mail as "daemon", instead of current possibilities in bogofilter: Spam, Ham, Unsure. If there were new option to train bogofilter to see daemon messages, these could be feed to it: bogofilter --daemon < daemon.mbox And the header could show a possible classification in addition to the usual spammicity probability. X-Bogocity: Daemon, spammicity .... ======= Please consider. l ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=499997&aid=1009461&group_id=62265 |
