when i try run my install of win98 on my freebsd host it bombs with the following error (works fine without ne2k enabled) Bochs is exiting with the following message: [NE2K ] eth_freebsd: could not open packet filter: Permission denied my .bochsrc line for the ne2k is ne2k: ioaddr=0x240, irq=9, mac=b0:c4:20:00:00:00, ethmod=fbsd, ethdev=sis0 matches my ifconfig sis0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 options=8<VLAN_MTU> inet6 fe80::20e:a6ff:fece:a51a%sis0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 192.168.1.201 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:0e:a6:ce:a5:1a media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>) status: active here is where it bombs out in bochs.log 00000000000i[ ] init_dev of 'ne2k' plugin device by virtual method 00000000000i[NE2K ] port 0x240/32 irq 9 mac b0:c4:20:00:00:00 00000000000p[NE2K ] >>PANIC<< eth_freebsd: could not open packet filter: Permission denied i'm running bochs as myself, not root and i suspect i need to give myself extra permissions on something to make this work? i've already added myself to group wheel and tried adding rw access to /dev/net/sis0 with the same results. i can't find anything on google that has a fix for my problem nor anything in the docs. |
