I actually like pure data very much, and after some trials you can do really nice things. I think it boils down to personal taste and thinking patterns... Both languages have a very different approach to sound generation, just look at how easy it is to do polyphonic instruments (with undetermined number of voices) in csound vs. pure data, and the other way around for monophonic instruments.
