Since 2.6 linux has started to rely heavily on hal and a quick glance at it on an F8 (2.6.21) box shows that hal notices a blackberry as both a storage device and a usb device. And once hal has noticed a device it's very easy to get whatever information there is out. I haven't been paying a lot of attention to what information barry wants, but I'll go back and look so we can verify that hal sees what we want it to see. -edge |
