The following issue has been SUBMITTED. ====================================================================== http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1968 ====================================================================== Reported By: catkin Assigned To: ====================================================================== Project: bacula Issue ID: 1968 Category: Documentation Reproducibility: N/A Severity: minor Priority: low Status: new ====================================================================== Date Submitted: 2012-12-14 09:17 UTC Last Modified: 2012-12-14 09:17 UTC ====================================================================== Summary: Bacula Main Reference: locale environment variable requirement: error and inadequacy Description: In the "Bacula Main Reference", November 26, 2012 edition, in section 12.1 Character Sets, in the second paragraph it says "To ensure that Bacula configuration files can be correctly read including foreign characters the bf LANG environment variable must end in .UTF-8". Trivially the "bf" is spurious (errant "bold font" markup?). The LANG envar alone is not enough for Bacula's make_catalog_backup.pl (and other Bacula Perl scripts?) which issues a locale warning when only LANG is set. For example: perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = (unset), LC_ALL = (unset), LANG = "en_GB-UTF8" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). ====================================================================== Issue History Date Modified Username Field Change ====================================================================== 2012-12-14 09:17 catkin New Issue ====================================================================== |
