I've just set up my first backuppc system and appear to have it working. However, doing a direct restore via the cgi-bin script leaves the restored file with incorrect ntfs permissions on my client box. Specifically, I'm trying to restore a test file to the Administrator's desktop. I'm using cygwin+rsyncd with the patched rsync.exe on the win2k client and debian sarge on the backuppc server. rsyncd runs on win2k under the local system account and restores files such that the ntfs permissions allow access only to the local system account. I tried changing rsyncd to run as administrator (renamed to root, actually) but it fails to start. Apparently it likes to run as the local system account only. Is this a limitation of rsync.exe? Thanks in advance for any help or ideas. (btw, I _did_ search the list archives but drew a blank.) -paul |
