Someone recently posted an easy ssh for windows package: http://lexa.mckenna.edu/sshwindows/ It even has a nice installer package. It's around 2mb I think. So, you say that rsyncd is faster than rsync/ssh? Do you get the same results though over a slower (internet) link? The two main reasons why I want to use rsync rather than rsyncd is 1) more secure, and 2) well, I've been having trouble with rsyncd where, all incrementals just get treated as full dumps. It can't tell the difference between files that have changed, and files that haven't, and ends up copying all files over regardless of weather they have been changed or not. So I thought I'd try rsync instead. Rsyncd *was* working fine for a while then it just decided to copy everything over from client machines.
