FYI, I put together a package on my own that I'm testing corporately, so I'll address the points as I see them. 1> I don't THINK I'm seeing this problem, but I'll test it through with some of our clients locally. The only issues I'm having is also reproducible with TAR over SSH on a particular client, so I don't think it's this. 2> Looking through both the local logs and the client logging, I haven't seen any problems (including the locked files... But knowing the way Rsync works, I imagine that it does grab the file, but nulls parts of it). That is something I've really got to look out for. Biggest problems that I've found with it so far were in the restore. Restoring files with the cygwin rsync.exe completely WHACKS the permissions. I'm using a patched version that allows this to be worked around. Speed is significantly better than SMB once it gets started, but the initial setup is a major time hit. Thanks for the feedback on Rsync. I'd love to know the full extent of it's limitations under WinXX.
