My computer gets sluggish when it's doing a local backup (and a bit sluggish when doing remote backups). I was thinking that it could be handy for me (and others may like it as well) to make an option to renice the processes launched by BackupPC. I don't know how to add options, but it could be done with a patch similar to the attached one. This patch assumes that there is a variable called $Conf{Priority} that can have values defined in $Conf{PriorityCmd}. $Conf{PriorityCmd} can be defined similarly to as follows: $Conf{PriorityCmd} = { high => '/usr/bin/nice 0', medium => '/usr/bin/nice 10', low => '/usr/bin/nice 19', default => '/usr/bin/nice 10' } where default is invoked if no option is specified. Sorry, but I've not yet looked through how to add options to the config file (it looks like it's just type them in there, but I'm not positive). Bill |
