I'm backing up hosts over a WAN (read: slow connection), so I use rsync. Backuppc seemed to be doing OK, but then the full backup comes due. The full backup can take days to complete and saturate the pipe at the same time (yes, I know about bwlimit in rsync and other ways to limit bandwidth). The old way I was doing our backup just always did an incremental backup using the rsync algorithm, but backuppc seems to force a full backup every so often. I found this thread in the archives, but it is now over a year old: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=8646797 If I am reading this thread right, Backuppc won't really work well over WANs. Am I reading it correctly? Has a workaround been developed over the last year? Trey Nolen |
