How about this approach for rsync-ing the backuppc pools? 1. rsync _only_ the pool and cpool directories. 2. For each PC directory, rsync pool+cpool+pcdir (i.e. one PC dir at a time). Step 1 will copy all the data, but won't have to deal with lots of hard links. Step 2 will copy no data, and will only have to deal with one PC-directory's worth of hard links. Rsyncing 2 or more PC directories in each pass of step 2 might be better. There is probably some sweet spot that will depend on the number of links in each PC directory and the amount of memory and CPU available to rsync. I can't test this right now, as I don't have enough spare diskspace anywhere to make a copy of my pool. But it seems to be like it would be worth a try. Later, Kenn |
