It appears as though a secure rsync is indeed a serious issue. The ssh|rsync certainly does not work reliably - there certainly appears to be an issue with cygwin and rsync and ssh. I saw a while ago on the list some talk of using stunnel with rsync, and in particular, I think it was Ranbir who did a lot of work to try to get this working - Ranbir also somehere said that once he had it running, he would publish a HOWTO or something. I was just wondering Ranbir, if you eventually managed to get this working, and if so, which version of stunnel, rsync etc. I know stunnel seems to be a bit of overkill, but if it works, hey, why not?, especially if we can put together a nice easy howto, or even a small installer for Windows - this would make secure backups of Windows PC a lot easier. How far did you manage to progress Ranbir, or did it never work out?
