I was just looking at this same issue today for my new UPS's. I have 2 of the Smart-UPS SMX1500RM2U that use the new signaling. They say to use the legacy card AP9620 in order to communicate using the older protocol. In the readme I have for that device, it sort of says that they acknowledge that some people use their own software and that this is the way to deal with it. The link is here: http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10816 According to the APC site, they are $49.99 each, however, they are currently out of stock. A check of their resellers shows them out of stock as well, and that most are waiting on APC for availability. Not sure if that's a good sign or bad sign, but I suspect these cards were created just for this purpose. A search on eBay comes up empty, so I'm suspecting that the cards have not been out long. Hopefully that is the case and we just need to be patient to be able to use these cards with apcupsd. jc On Feb 22, 2011, at 3:40 PM, Kris Jordan wrote: > Hendrik Pahl wrote, On 2/22/2011 1:26 AM: >> >> Hi folks, >> >> i’m using a SMT1000i (Smart-UPS 1000, a newer one with a LCD display), >> connected via USB to my gentoo box.
