Prior to posting I did read the manual, searched the archive, and Googled for an answer. Unfortunately, I'm still not able to get apcupsd running. Please forgive me if I've left out any valuable information, I'm VERY new to Linux, this is the only machine I have running it. Any troubleshooting input you can offer is appreciated. So here are the details... I am unable to get apcupsd talking to my UPS. When I start the daemon the error "ERROR in pcnet.c at line 650 - Cannot bind socket" is logged in /var/log/messages. My configuration is shown below. MACHINE INFO OS : CentOS (VMware's VMA 4.1) VER : Linux 2.6.18-164.9.1.el5 PLATFORM : x86_64 APCUPSD INFO VER : 3.14.8 for RedHat (64bit) UPS INFO MODEL : SMART-UPS 3000 MGMT CARD : APC9617 FIRMWARE : aos3.7.3 CONNECTION : ETHERNET PROTOCOL : pcnet APCUPSD CONFIG UPSNAME apc001 UPSCABLE ether UPSTYPE pcnet DEVICE 10.1.70.91:apc:<my custom, case sensitive phrase 16 characters in length> POLLTIME 30 NETSERVER on NISP 0.0.0.0 NISPORT 3551 CUSTOMIZATIONS AND NOTES - I changed the name of the config file and updated the init.d startup script as per the apcupsd manual in the section describing how to set up multiple instances of apcupsd on the same machine. After getting the first instance working I intend to use this box to monitor 6 more UPS units. - While troubleshooting I made these changes to iptables o sudo chkconfig iptables off o sudo service iptables save o sudo service iptables stop - The host running apcupsd and the UPS management card are on the same subnet and can ping one and other. Where do I go from here to solve this problem? Thanks, Adam |
