It is possible and works just fine. There is no need to create a partition table anywhere in Linux; you may well use devices without one. But most of the time you probably want partitions as you might need swap space as well which should not have the size of a modern harddisk... ;-) or because you want to separate data from system and so on. As I already wrote in another reply to Andrei Levin, I cannot make partitions on the remote host as writing stuff to my disk always fails (and produces unreadable data). :-( -- Adi |
