Yes, I thought being statically compiled might be an issue so I recompiled the kernel with aoe as a module and put the module in my initrd. Now the initrd boots up and drops me to a shell so I can troubleshoot things. I manually insmod, get a message in the dmesg about aoe being loaded, but then I have the exact same problem as before. Also if I look at the ifconfig output it shows no packets having been sent or received on the interface. I tried not specifying which interface aoe should discover on (in which case I understand it should try all interfaces) and I have tried specifying the particular interface. Not a single packet registers as having been sent or received on the interface. Very strange. The only weird thing going on here is that I have xen compiled in. Xen sets up some bridges and other things. Could that be causing problems with AoE? Maybe AoE is not doing discover on the normal ethernet interfaces but is instead doing it on one of the bridges or something? I will do some more tests this afternoon to try to determine that. I might even compile up a non-xen version of this kernel just to see if that is a factor. I know other people have run xen and aoe before (they seem practically made for each other) but I have never seen anyone mention having to work around this problem. -- Tracy R Reed http://ultraviolet.org A: Because we read from top to bottom, left to right Q: Why should I start my reply below the quoted text |
