I pretty much think that names are important *everywhere*. But I'm pretty anal about these things. *My* calls to connect(), disconnect() and signal() will most likely use keyword arguments. <wink> Let's please keep in mind that we are creating a general mechanism which will be useful outside of the anygui classes, and that these three global functions are the public interface to this mechanism. I'd expect calls to connect(), disconnect(), and signal() always to use positional arguments, so their names are not all that important.
