Yup... either the syntax of the "if ... then ... fi" construct has changed
(for some reason), or $FOUND has something in it that's messing up the "if
... then"  line, or some such.  If you can't fix it locally, it's a pain
to try to make it work by remote control.

If you can't run alsaconf, fix by hand /etc/modules.conf (see
alsa-driver-0.x.y/INSTALL) and run snddevices.

That shows XEmacs' idea of the correct syntax, not bash/sh's.  They could
differ.
