Hi all, So I've had a ton of problems getting my RME Multiface to work on a laptop running Ubuntu. When I first installed the OS (6.10 edgy), I had to compile the ALSA drivers, tools, and firmware before anything would work (I used v. 1.0.13). Even then, things were hairy, which I won't get into in this post. But I will say that I could never get the build in intel soundcard to work, unfortunately. Well, yesterday that switched. I did an apt-get update and a system update, then the hdsp wouldn't load! I get: r@pal:~/downloads/alsa-firmware-1.0.13$ hdspconf HDSPConf 1.4 - Copyright (C) 2003 Thomas Charbonnel <th...@un...> This program comes WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY HDSPConf is free software, see the file copying for details Looking for HDSP cards : Card 0 : HDA Intel at 0xd2500000 irq 66 Card 1 : RME Hammerfall DSP at 0x8c000000, irq 169 Uninitialized HDSP card found. Use hdsploader to upload configuration data to the card. No Hammerfall DSP card found. hdsploader doesn't seem to be installed when I compile all the 1.0.13files from the ALSA website, so I installed 1.0.11 with synaptic. However, it won't init still: r@pal:~$ hdsploader hdsploader - firmware loader for RME Hammerfall DSP cards Looking for HDSP + Multiface or Digiface cards : Card 0 : HDA Intel at 0xd2500000 irq 66 Card 1 : RME Hammerfall DSP at 0x8c000000, irq 169 Upload firmware for card hw:1 Hwdep ioctl error on card hw:1 : Input/output error. Now, I get just reistall the 1.0.13 drivers, because they have obviously been changed ( is there a way to check this? a log or something?), but surpisingly enough the build in soundcard works now! I don't want to loose it's functionality, so I would rather find a way to get the RME card working initialized with the current driver. Any suggestions from the pros? Regards, Rich |
