Hello All, I'm trying to setup my SB Extigy USB soundcard in ALSA so that it can be addressed as a 6-channel device. Has anyone done this, so I might copy their .asoundrc file? I wonder if it even possible to playback through anything other than the first two channels as apparently the card uses a proprietary ADPCM scheme when using the channels 4-6. I don't know enough about these things to know whether the alsa driver cares about this underlying scheme or not: " CMSS surround sound and multichannel PCM: For PCM audio, only the front speakers and the headphones work. The driver makes the CMSS LED turn on, but this is purely for entertainment only! The CMSS function will probably never work, since when playing more than two channels the device appears to use some sort of (proprietary) ADPCM." http://exaudio.sourceforge.net/ I've no interest in anything other than getting 6 channel playback -- I don't need any capture devices etc. My ultimate aim is to be able to use BruteFir to do crossovers/room correction triamping, and for this I need JACK to see a 6 channel device. Thanks for any help, Tom |
