Evening! I don't really no where to start or what information to provide, so I'll start light and hope someone can guide me from there :) To start off: I have a fairly decent understanding of linux. I can follow a how-to pretty well, and understand most of the lingo. I've read a lot (everything? :D ) on getting SPDIF out working with these cards (cmipci) but have still not been successful in the widest form of the word. I currently have analog out working (from the 'green' plug) just fine. Ideally, I want to completely remove that plug, and only have 1 cable running from my spdif (orange plug) out on the card to my reciever's digital coax input. The receiver can auto-detect an AC3 stream versus a PCM stream and auto-switch, so I am hoping that Alsa with this card can output this all through the spdif port. I've got the default ~/.asoundrc: pcm.cmipci { type hw card 0 } ctl.cmipci { type hw card 0 } And I'm loading the module via modules.conf on Gentoo using a 2.4.13 kernel with Alsa from the kernel (if I should switch to alsa outside the kernel, I'm happy to if it will help with troubleshooting/etc.). Like I said, not sure what else to provide, but hopefully this will get me started. Thanks! Chad |
