The dsp=0 option didn't work. Fortunately I don't have a VIA based motherboard <G>. Looking at the docs on the alsa site for this card there is a "support oss mmap option". Unfortunately the docs assume I'm clairvoyant and know how that translates into what goes into the option statement <G>. Maybe that is what dxs_suppport is????? I think that's what's frustrating about ALSA - the docs assume you know what you need to know <G> so they don't go into much detail. I've tried to put pieces from various docs together but it appears that the only way to really find out what is happening is check the entire source code tree!
