Well, in xmms, you can configure the alsa-driver to use a pcm other than
the default. check pcm names like "front", "rear", "hw:0,0", "hw:0,1",
etc..

You can also override the default pcm and ctl devices by editing your
.asoundrc and adding entries like:

pcm.!default {
	type hw
	card 0
	device n
}

where n is the device number.. i suppose you won't need to override the
ctl default..
