I compiled alsa on my system with i810 motherboard and onboard soundcard. I passed on --with-sequencer=yes and --with-cards=intel8x0 as options. I recompiled the kernel with my soundcard built-in as a module. I have a devfs running. The alsa sound driver was successfully compiled into the kernel however when i run any application it shows "could not open /dev/dsp:No such file or directory". I have checked the permissions to varios /dev/snd nodes and also that /dev/dsp doesnt exist but the amixer settings are being set properly for the default snd-card. Please help me out. P.S: Same settings are working fine for another box with sound card on i845 mb. -Swapnil |
