I can use ALSA with the oss emulator, but I can not get the native ALSA to work. From my search if seams that these symptoms are normally asocated with library problems. I seam to be having two problems with ALSA, they may however be related to one another. The first problem is most likely a general Linux problem, but I'll ask it here because it maybe related to my second problem. I can't seam to get my system to look for libraries in the /usr/local/bin directory. To keep my system "under control" I place files that are not under RPM control in the /usr/local directory. When I try to execute amixer alsamixer or aplay I get the following ... amixer: error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've went ahead and created symbolic links in the dir /usr/lib/ for each of the files libasound.* . Now when I run amixer and alsamixer I get these errors... amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory aplay: main:447: audio open error: No such file or directory RELEVENT INFORMATION alsa-driver-0.9.0rc3 alsa-lib-0.9.0rc3 alsa-utils-0.9.0rc3 > cat /etc/ld.so.conf /usr/kerberos/lib /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib /usr/lib/sane /usr/lib/wine /usr/local/lib > rpm -q glibc glibc-2.2.4-19.3 |
