Okay, I got the sound to work <a bit>. Here's a copy of my /etc/modules.conf: ---/etc/modules.conf alias char-major-116 snd alias char-major-14 soundcore options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 # ALSA portion alias snd-card-0 snd-via8233 options snd-via8233 snd_index=0 snd_id="AC97" # OSS/Free portion alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 # OSS/Free portion - card #0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss ---/etc/modules.conf Now, I hope that's a correct thing. An lsmod: ---lsmod Module Size Used by Tainted: PF snd-pcm-oss 35556 1 (autoclean) snd-mixer-oss 9180 1 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss] snd-via8233 4780 2 (autoclean) snd-pcm 48128 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-via8233] snd-timer 10152 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm] snd-ac97-codec 22884 0 (autoclean) [snd-via8233] snd 24268 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-via8233 snd-pcm snd-timer snd-ac97-codec] vmnet 18176 5 vmmon 18740 0 ---lsmod I got a vmware virtual os running WinXP and that can't connect to /dev/dsp (driver or resource busy). And, when I tell xmms to start playing an mp3, it takes really!! long to actually start. It uses the lib libOSS.so. Mark |
