Hi! I bought a "Trust - Sound Expert Digital Surround 5.1" a few Days ago. First i've tried the kernel driver of 2.4.17 for 8738 chipsets. It works but has completly wrong mixer section and spdif works a bit strange too. So i got the alsa drivers. First i was quite confused with it but now something gets clearer :-). I'm working with the CVS version now. With 0.5 spdif playback did not work at all. With the latest CVS version spdif playback works but not together with analog output. But this seems to be normal for some cards as far as i've read. A more important problem is the distortion while monitoring oder recording spdif sources with 48kHz. 44.1 kHz sounds a bit better but "too fast" at playback. (how is this possible? Wrong sampling frequency althought correct one displayed?) Is anybody out there for whom spdif recording works? My spdif Source is a Sony DAT. Hm, another issue: The Sony Dat obviously uses a relay to switch sampling frequency while recording (or DAC only). While in "spdif out mode" it clicks every time i open the audio device or even if i play the next song in xmms or change playing position. Does the driver changes the Frequency on every device open? I've done a workaround in NAS now and set ReleaseDevice to "no" but that's not so nice :-). Any suggestions? Klaus |
