This was a manifestation of a long standing issue concerning the display of the splash screen and the status bar during startup before the event loop is started which caused the aevt/odoc event to be lost. The fix used in old versions of Alpha (creating a while loop until the first resume event is received) had to be replaced by something else respecting the Carbon Events model. The solution introduced in versions 8.2a3d5 and 8.2a3d6 resulted in the aevt/odoc AppleEvent being called before the AE handlers were installed. The root of the problem simply lied in the fact that the splash screen and the status bar are given automatically the kWindowHideOnSuspendAttribute attribute by the Window Manager (because they are of class kToolbarWindowClass). This prevented their display until the first Resume event is received, which happens too late, after RAEL is invoked. The solution was simply to remove manually the kWindowHideOnSuspendAttribute attribute. Now the splash screen and the status bar are created as soon as they are created (previously the splash screen was in fact displayed after the status bar). Resolving this bug as FIXED (in version 8.2b1). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Configure bugmail: http://rutherglen.ics.mq.edu.au/~alpha-bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. -- This e-mail has been automatically generated by the Alpha-Bugzilla bugsystem <http://rutherglen.ics.mq.edu.au/~alpha-bugzilla/>.
