rats! the only time i say Hi Guys (as oppose to Hi Guys and Gals), Lisa reads it. is that sexist? Anyway, thanks for the replies (male and female) to you both. I'd say a 2500 line prog is verging on the complex and i managed to get by there sans debugger but i expect my idea and yours of complex differ a tad. BTW check out my code if you're bored - the program a real Nutcracker if i say so meself. here where it is - http://web.ukonline.co.uk/william.labbett/free_progs_files/free_progs_htm.ht m if you can tell what the bug in it is i'll........... eat my hat and send you a burn of Notepad.exe well worth lokking eh? a good challenge. I ended up in a mental hospital trying to find it :-) anyway - did that remake of Head over Heels turn up? tar (.gz) swill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fabio Luis Stange" <fab...@ne...> To: <all...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 9:52 PM Subject: Re: [AL] debug versus trial and error Once you write complex programs, it could take years to find your bug with the trial and error approach. In the programs you´ve wrote so far, your sources of potencial problems are well known and not so many, so you go by trial and error (I am assuming that by what you´ve said and by what I see you write in this list). But that approach is simply impossible to use on complex programs.
