A test query to see if anyone else has seen this problem: I've been running various versions of the aironet driver with various linux versions (currently version that comes with the stock kernel 2.4.18-18.7.x - ie for redhat 7.x) I run this as an ad-hoc device and I've always had a problem with xp, but never with linux (redhat 8.0, both xp and linux on the same ibm t23 laptop): I get periodic (< 1hourly) dhcpreleases from the xp box (at least that's what I see in the log), which, naturally causes the ip link to go down. This is really annoying with tcp tools like putty. And I have to faff around to get ip to try to reconnect. Any similar experience? Any suggestions (not using xp is not acceptable, I'm afraid).
