|No, |no drivers are need to get the dos flash utility to work - it speaks |directly to the bootblock. That's true only if you have an 82365-compatible PCMCIA controller. If you don't then you need DOS card & socket service drivers loaded. There are laptops that use chipsets that do not have 82365 compatibility mode and finding DOS C&S drivers is getting hard... Now, the fact that radinfo works suggests that at least that program is able to set up the PCMCIA slot. The various DOS utilities seem to have different strategies for probing the hardware, with radinfo being the best about running without any additional hints. You might want to try the pcmcia.exe program to turn on the slot. |The problem is, I had not realized that the version on CCO was so old, that |it does not |properly recognize the Mercury (350 series) radios. I don't think that's the problem. I use an old DOS flash program on 350 series cards all the time. Last time I checked it was the same version that is still on CCO. It shouldn't need to do anything special to support the Mercury anyway, so unless it is explicitly checking and rejecting the product code it will work. The easiest thing might be to try a different laptop. Dan Lanciani ddl@danlan.*com |
