Hi, i added a new routine to the aironet driver, which allow to set the maximum transfer unit (MTU) to a value greater than 1500 Byte by the standard unix ifconfig command: e.g. ifconfig eth[x] mtu 2312 This is in particular interesting for those people how work in adhoc mode. By allowing larger packets you improve the performance of the network (a test measurement showed up to 7 MBit/s for directional UDP traffic and packet sizes of 2312 Byte). Keep in mind, that when using aironet in infrastructure mode with a ethernet backbone it is not a good idea to allow for large packets, since ethernet packet are at max. 1500 Byte. BTW, 2312 Byte is the specified maximum payload length of a data frame for IEEE802.11. Ben, would be nice if you would incorporate that in the "official" distribution of the aironet driver. Let me know, what you think about that. I made the changes in the 0.98sa-version (attached). Bye JP |
