Okay, this is what autofs is for. I'm not quite sure how this would all fit together; if you google for 'fuse autofs', there'll be some pointers. Right now, afpfs-ng doesn't know how to handle passwords other than on the command line[*], and I don't know how you'd actually get it. Another simpler way to do it is to create a subdir on their home dir (eg. /home/user/my_apple_home), and put an afp_client mount command in their .bashrc. Or use SMB. Or NFS. I'd like to figure this out, but my afpfs-ng priorities are now: For 0.5: - rearrange the codebase so that we can have different clients - write a test command-line client (eg. "afp_client get afp://server/dir/filename", which downloads a copy of that file without having to first mount it) For 0.6: - write a gnome-vfs2 client so that AFP volumes are represented in nautilus When all this is stable, we'll ship 1.0, hopefuly by November but you know how it goes. Patches accepted. - Alex [*] I realize that this is incovenient, and I have a patch that asks the user for their passwd if one isn't provided.
