Since afick is in perl it doesn't need to be compiled. All you need to do is install a version of perl >= 5.6 on Solaris 8 or 9 (I think 10 comes perl 5.6 or 5.8 and so it works out of the box). If you install this perl in /usr/local/bin, then edit the afick.pl and change the first line of the file to reference the path of the newer perl interpreter. It has worked just great on all my Solaris servers! You can get a newer perl (along with lots of other packages) from blastwave.org.
